Traditions
Each year, Elementary School students look forward to a variety of fun and engaging events and projects. These traditions have become an integral part of the elementary school experience at Monte Cassino.

Art Show
Mrs. Wells, our elementary school art teacher, hosts an elaborate and beautiful annual art show at the end of each school year. This spectacular event takes place over a week and showcases each elementary school student's best work. All students have at least one piece in the show. -
Science Fair
All students have the opportunity to submit an experiment, demonstration or model to the annual science fair competition! The Elementary School gym is filled from end to end with all sorts of scientific creations! -
Spelling Bee
It all starts in your child's classroom with a class spelling bee. All classroom winners come together for a little friendly competition to determine the Elementary School's best speller!
First Grade
Halloween on Parade - this is one show that will scare you out of your seat! Well, not really. These little performers get to don their favorite Halloween costume and perform for their school mates and their parents. Come early, as there is never an empty seat!
Native American Unit - Students spend the month of November learning about Native American Culture. As a culminating activity, Native American Fancy Dancers perform and speak to the students about Native American heritage.
Celebrate Seuss - Oh the Places You'll Go! Monte Cassino Elementary School students celebrate the life and books of Dr. Seuss with special events and a deeper understanding of the esteemed children's author, Theodor Seuss Geisel.

Second Grade
Pilgrim Unit - This special second grade tradition begins every year with students building mini log cabins and learning about settlements in Colonial America!
Biography Unit - "If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be?" Students get to research famous people in history then prepare a report to share with his or her class.
Goin' Buggy - Put on your bug spray and head to the MPAC as second grade students perform a spring-themed play about working together to support a common cause!
Economics Fair - Do you have an entrepreneur in your family? Then second grade economics fair is just the place to be. Imagination abounds as students create a "product" or a "service" to market and sell all while learning about costs, losses and profits! You may have the next Mr. Profit in your family.

Third Grade
Veterans Day Program - Is there a more special day than Veterans Day for America? At this performance, third grade students teach, dance and rap (yes, rap) all about the Constitution, Veterans and all the Presidents!
Take Me Back to Tulsa - Students learn all about Tulsa's heritageby researching its histroy from A to Z and by participating in field trips to various landmarks including Tulsa's historic downtown architecture tour.
Medieval Banquet - As a culminating activity for the Medieval Unit, students journey back to the middle ages dressed in period costumes while enjoying a medieval feast!
One Room School House - In their study of the Oklahoma pioneer days, students are given an opportunity to work in both the barn and the garden areas of the historic One Room School House in Perry. They will experience life on the farm, as did children 120 years ago. Students grind corn, muck the stalls, make rope and work in the garden.
Mother's Day Program - Bring tissues! This heartfelt and humorous program honors the third grade mothers, grandmothers and special family members in a sweet, nostalgic program.
Take Me Back to Tulsa - Students learn all about Tulsa's heritageby researching its histroy from A to Z and by participating in field trips to various landmarks including Tulsa's historic downtown architecture tour.

Mass Preparation - Students learn about Mass, its components and how to prepare for and serve Mass as greeters, readers, altar servers and members of the choir.
Christmas Program - Students take us back in time to the days when Jesus was born, reminding us of the true meaning of Christmas and God's love for us.
Blues to Khakis Ceremony - Students celebrate the completion of Elementary School with a ceremony and reception. The tradition of running across the field to the Middle School marks the beginning of a new era and symbolizes their transition to the Middle School building! Middle School—here we come!
